Mission & Values
Franklin Lab Mission Statement
In the Franklin laboratory, we are motivated to improve human health through discovery of basic biological principles that underlie the progression of disease. To achieve this goal, we will:
Investigate the intersection of immunology and regenerative biology by studying how immune cells influence tissue repair and remodeling during injury, infection, fibrosis, and cancer.
Pursue innovation and excellence by embracing cutting-edge approaches and upholding rigorous scientific standards to advance human health.
Translate discoveries into impact by leveraging fundamental insights to develop innovative strategies for preventing and treating diseases.
Foster collaboration and education by cultivating an interdisciplinary research environment that inspires curiosity, collaboration, and mentorship to train the next generation of scientists.
Franklin Lab Values
We are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment. Diverse teams of individuals, both in the classroom and laboratory, make academia stronger. We celebrate all individuals and embrace each aspect that makes them unique including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, and religion. We acknowledge the systemic racism present in all aspects of academia and strive to combat racial injustice and advance equity in biomedical research and beyond.
As a lab, we are involved in a variety of outreach initiatives. Please see below for some of these efforts:
